- Introduction to telecommunication systems.
- Digital telecommunication systems. Digitization of analog signals: sampling, pulse shaping and pulse code modulation systems.
- Pulse shaping, intersymbol interference (ISI), equalizers and matched filters.
- Digital modulation techniques, geometric representation of digital signals and constellations (M-PAM, M-PSK M-QAM and M-FSK), error probability, union bound.
- Fundamentals of communication channel modeling and link budgeting.
- Filters and noise models.
- Fundamental concepts for error analysis of uncoded digital communications.
- Introduction to error correction techniques.
- Detection techniques.
- Linear Block codes
- Cyclic Codes

- Trellis diagram, Viterbi decoders
