Undergraduate students who hold a BSc or equivalent university degree can be admitted to the Physics Department as second-year students after successfully passing placement examinations in the following three courses:
Applications for admission under this scheme are accepted by the Departmental Secretariat every year during the period Nov 1st – Νov 15th. The examinations are held during the period Dec 1st – Dec 20th. The precise schedule is announced by the Secretariat at least ten days prior to the date of the first examination.
Students must supply the following application material:
Graduates of higher education institutions with study programs lasting two or more years may also be admitted at a level of 12% of all admissions on any academic year.
Candidates with disabilities or other special educational needs, who cannot participate in the standard written examinations, can take a special oral examination. Prospective students can apply for participation in special oral placement examinations if:
(a) They are blind, as per Greek Ν. 958/1979 (ΦΕΚ 191 Α') or have an oral disability of at least 67% or have amblyopia (lazy eye) of at least 67%
(b) They have disability in the lower extremity of at least 67%
(c) They suffer from neuromuscular disorders of the upper extremities
(d) They suffer from fractures or other temporary disability of the upper extremities that renders their use for writing impossible
(e) They face special learning disabilities or difficulties including, but not limited to, dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, and dysorthography.
Applications for special oral placement examinations should be submitted to the Departmental Secretariat. All applications must include a medical attestation by a public health service detailing the condition(s) that render participation in a written examination impossible.
