Course Content
- Forms of solar energy: Thermal, kinetic, magnetic energy.
- Photosphere: Radiation propagation. Velocity fields. Magnetic elements (small magnetic flux tubes, large magnetic flux tubes, formation, stability and dissolution of spots, Evershed effect).
- Chromosphere and corona: Radiation propagation. Wave propagation. Structures in the low chromosphere. Structures in the upper chromosphere-transition region. Structures in the corona.
- Solar activity: Mechanisms of magnetic field evolution. Formation of centres of action. Evolution of centres of action - magnetic structures, flare and models thereof. Coronal mass ejection and models thereof. Solar cycle.
- Heliosphere: Structure. Spatio-temporal variations. Cosmic rays and energetic particles.
