Course Content

• Introduction to pattern recognition and machine learning; data representation (images, audio, text), feature extraction and the statistical learning framework.
• Regression: loss functions, optimization algorithms, regularization and model evaluation (over-/under-fitting).
• Classical methods for data classification.
• Unsupervised learning: clustering, dimensionality reduction and feature selection.
• Local methods, kernel methods and support vector machines (SVMs).
• Neural networks and deep learning: building blocks, training algorithms and network architectures.
