The requirements for the completion of the undergraduate program and the award of the BSc degree are:
- Minimum duration of eight (8) semesters.
- Successful completion of the following courses:
18 compulsory core courses
4 compulsory core laboratories
3 elective core courses. Depending on the specialization chosen, this list of three must include one or two specific courses (among the total of five core electives offered).
3 introductory courses to specializations, including their corresponding laboratories
2 compulsory specialization courses
1 specialization laboratory (in the specialization area selected).
2 elective specialization courses selected from about 4-5 offered in each specialization area
3 free elective courses
- Submission of a dissertation (undergraduate thesis) or successful completion of 2 additional introductory specialization courses and their respective laboratories.
- Completion of at least 240 ECTS units.
The final degree grade is calculated as the weighted average of the grades obtained in the courses that constitute the requirement of 240 ECTS points. The weighting factors are the ECTS points awarded by each course. The degree lists grades with a precision of two (2) decimal places and the designation EXCELLENT (grade ≥ 8.50), VERY GOOD (6.50 ≤ grade < 8.50) or GOOD (grade < 6.50).
Students who complete more courses than required by the degree program, can select the ones to be included in determining the final degree grade, provided that the total number of ECTS points accumulated by these courses is greater than or equal to 240. The remaining courses are listed in the Diploma Supplement.
The Department issues a Diploma Supplement, in Greek and in English. This document, which is issued in addition to the degree, does not replace the degree, but accompanies it and helps clarify the content of the studies pursued, especially outside Greece.
In addition to their degree, graduates receive upon request a certificate of computer skills (ECDL) from the Department.
