The undergraduate cycle of study in the Department of Physics of NKUA leads to a BSc in Physics, following the successful completion of a four-year curriculum that consists of 38 courses and 240 ECTS credit points.
Each year of study is divided into two semesters of 13 weeks each. The average daily attendance by students ranges between 4 and 5 hours, corresponding to an average of 21-22 hours per week.
Students are assigned a faculty member as Advisor (mentor) shortly after their enrolment in the Physics Department. The Advisor’s role is to monitor student progress and to provide guidance and support throughout their studies. Students are thus encouraged to establish contact with their Advisor early in their studies and to further seek feedback from and consult with their Advisor throughout their studies.
In the beginning of the fourth year, students select a specialization area among the five offered by the Department. These correspond to the five Sections, namely Astrophysics (K1), Electronics, Computers, Telecommunications and Control (K2), Environmental Physics (K3), Nuclear and Particle Physics (K4), and Condensed Matter Physics (K5).
The suspension of studies and the transition to part-time student status are provided for in accordance with Art.76, L. 4957/22, and Decision of the NKUA Senate No. 981 (Government Gazette 133/19-1-2022, Issue B').
