Course Content

• Communications Networks and the Internet.
• Data Centre Networks and 5G Networks and Beyond.
• Design principles and transport network layer services, application multiplexing, User Datagram Protocol (UDP), Principles of Reliable Data Transport, Transport Control Protocol (TCP), Flow and Congestion Control
• Network layer, routing principles, hierarchical routing, Internet protocol (IP), Internet routing, routers, IPv6, multicast routing. Software Defined Networking (SDN) principles in support of network layer functions.
• Link layer and local networks, error detection and correction, multi-access networks and protocols, Ethernet, IEEE 802.11, PPP, ΑΤΜ networks, frame relay.
• Delay models based and of queueing theory and Markov chains in communications networks context.
• Quality of Service Techniques.
