Course Content

  • Design and implementation of hardware systems for real-time digital signal processing.
  • Methodologies for implementations with special-purpose hardware technologies, such as ASICs, FPGAs, GPUs, etc.
  • Models for describing digital processing algorithms (data flow diagrams, dependency grapgs, signal flow graphs etc.), pipelining and parallel processing for high performance DSP. Low power implementations.
  • Computer arithmetic for fast DSP: optimal multipliers, distributed arithmetic, CORDIC units, efficient FIR, IIR filters etc. Arithmetic with fixed-point number systems.
  • Systematic mapping of algorithms in parallel architectures. Designing systolic architectures for DSP and Pattern Recognition.
  • Synthesis methodologies and design tools for high performance DSP systems. Embedded DSP systems.
  • Special purpose processors for machine and deep learning and classification with neural networks.
